QUESTION: What is MFA?

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a security mechanism that requires users to provide more than one form of authentication to access their account/s. In a situation where MFA uses an authenticator app, the user must provide a username and password in addition to a one-time code generated by an authenticator app.


QUESTION: What portals require MFA?

We are currently close to finalising the process of MFA on our portals. The following listed portals are all the Vonex portals currently requiring by MFA logins:

  • SignOnGlass
  • Fusion
  • LINK
  • VISP
  • Connect


QUESTION: What is an authenticator app?

An authenticator app is a mobile application that generates a one-time code that resets every 10-30 seconds. These apps can be downloaded from an app store and are usually free of charge. Some examples are: 'Google Authenticator' or 'Microsoft Authenticator'.


QUESTION: How do I set up MFA using a authenticator app?

To set up MFA using an authenticator app, you will need to follow these steps:

1. Open the portal you want to start creating an MFA for.

2. Download an authenticator app.

3. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your first MFA

4. The instructions will ask you to either scan the QR code on the portal or input the requested data.

5. Enter the code generated by the app into the portal to complete the setup process.

6. Repeat the above for every portal you use with Vonex.


QUESTION: Can I use MFA with multiple devices?

Yes, you can use MFA with multiple devices. To do so, you must set up MFA on each device separately.


QUESTION: What happens if I lose my phone or device?

If you lose your phone or device, you will need to use a backup authentication method. This is usually a backup or safety code that provides access to your account. It is important to store your backup codes in a safe place, such as a password manager or in a physical location only you can access. If you are also missing your backup code, you will need to call our support team on 07 3186 2755.


QUESTION: Is using an authenticator app secure?

Yes, MFA using an authenticator app is secure. It provides an additional layer of security to your account, making it harder for hackers to gain access. However, keeping your device and authenticator app secure by using a strong password or PIN and keeping your mobile updated is important.
