This guide details how to setup the Billion BiPac 8700AXL modem router for the following connection types: ADSL, Fibre to the Node and Fibre to the Building
If the modem detects it is in default mode it will launch a browser page to tell you
The first page will prompt you to change the interface password
You will then be promoted for timezone
Once you have entered the timezone the Easy Sign On or Quick Start wizard will start
Basic Setup
If the modem does not launch a new browser window you can access the interface manually, Vonex reccommends this method for setting up the BiPac series
The interface of the Billion BiPac 8700AXL modem is generally accessed via 192.168.1.254
If the modem is in default mode the interface username/password will be admin/admin
Once logged in you will be redirected to the Device Information page, select Quick Start from the left hand menu
The Billion BiPac 8700AXL modem is suitable for ADSL and also Fibre to the Node (VDSL) connections with or without VLAN Tagging, please confirm your connection settings with Vonex staff before proceeding
Configuring ADSL
Make sure that the Layer2 Interface is set to ATM
Then select to setup the modem Manually
Standard Vonex ADSL settings are as follows:
VPI: 8
VCI: 35
Protocol: PPPoE
Encapsulation: LLC SNAP
Enter the username and password and select Continue
Configuring VDSL (NBN FTTN, FTTB)
Make sure that the Layer2 Interface is set to PTM
Then select to setup the modem Manually
Enter the username and password and select Continue
Setting up VLAN Tagging
If your internet connection requires VLAN Tagging you will need to configure the following settings:
Configuration > WAN > WAN Service page
Find the PTM Interface and select Edit
Setup the following:
802.1P Priority: 1
802.1Q VLAN ID: 100
Disabling SIP ALG
We recommend that you disable SIP ALG within your modem by selecting:
Configuration > NAT > ALG
Set SIP to Disable and Apply
Setting Up WiFi
You will need to setup security for both 5G and 2.4G WiFi
Setting the Administrator Password
If you are not prompted at the beginning you will need to setup the Administrator Password to limit access to the modem interface
